Selby Health Walkers gather together to promote their scheme
Our walks
The Scheme has been running since 2002 with led walks being held during the week, some evening and Sundays. A programme of walks now take place from Abbey Leisure Centre, Brayton, Thorpe Willoughby, Hambleton, Barlow Common, Drax, Escrick, Tadcaster and Saxton. Family Walks for parents and very young children have now been introduced in Selby Town.
The majority of walks are between 2 and 3 miles, however some are longer for those wishing to walk further distances. People of all ages are welcome.
Partner agencies are Selby and York Primary Care Trust, Selby District Council, Age Concern, Selby and Selby District AVS.
We are looking to research more routes and to recruit volunteer walk leaders to expand the programme of led walks. Also independent walk routes will be researched.
