Accredited SchemeChester-le-Street: Footsteps to Fitness and Next Steps - North East

Last updated 30 July 2008
The Durham and Chester-le-Street Lifestyle Initiative supported by the Primary Care Trust, and aided by the Footsteps to Fitness walk volunteers has created a series of walks designed to increase the level of physical activity in the local community.

Our walks

Footsteps to Fitness is a programme of moderate guided walks designed as an introduction to waking for health, which vary in length between 3 and 6 miles and are suitable for most fitness levels. The walks take place twice monthly on Sunday morning from March to November.

In addition, there is also the Next Steps walks programme, which offers easy to moderate guided walks - between 3 to 4.5 miles in length - every Wednesday morning from March to October.

Leaflets for Footsteps to Fitness and Next Steps can be downloaded from column on right.

A pack of independent walks is also available. The pack contains a map and information on individual walks to enable you to make healthy walking part of your daily life. These can also be downloaded from the right-hand column.

For information on how to obtain an independent walk pack please contact the Lifestyle Initiative - Tel 0191 389 5094. Minicom 0191 387 2080. Fax 0191 387 5097.
